We imbue all of our work at Taikoo Animal Clinic with our passion for pets and their owners.

Taikoo Animal Clinic was founded in 2020 during the pandemic, with the goal of serving our community with the best care for their pets possible.  

 

We strive to provide the highest quality of medicine tailored to each individual’s needs.  Even though being challenging at times, we wish to achieve the best quality of life for our furry friends and their human owners at all stages of their lives.

Dog & Cat Pals

Dr. Jean Hsu

Dr. Hsu was born in Taiwan and moved to Canada with her family as a teenager.  While adapting to different cultures, becoming a veterinarian was always her dream and life’s goal.  After graduating from UBC, she went to Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in St. Kitts to pursue the DVM degree. Her final clinical year was spent at Purdue University in Indiana, USA. 
Before founding Taikoo Animal Clinic, Dr. Hsu had been working as a locum general practitioner at a number of clinics around the Lower Mainland.  In addition to seeing medical appointments and performing dental/surgical procedures, she is also a Certified Veterinary Acupuncturist who can provides acupuncture and TCVM treatments to animals in need.  Dr. Hsu speaks fluent English, Mandarin, and Taiwanese, and is learning Cantonese.  She had a super-gentle Akita named Anna, who is now in heaven. Anna is survived by Carib, the Island Cat from St. Kitts, who is expected to live forever.

Dr. Elizabeth Kuan

Senior Dog Certified Veterinarian

Dr. Kuan was born and raised in the Lower Mainland, with a passion for animals and medicine since childhood.  She obtained her Veterinary degree from the University of Melbourne, Australia in 2014.  After saying goodbye to the kangaroos and koalas, she decided to return home to reunite with her family and begin her journey as a general practitioner.  Dr. Kuan is an experienced veterinarian who has been working at various clinics around the Lower Mainland for many years,  with a special interest in dentistry.  She also has exceptional surgical skills and medical knowledge that she has been offering to all the clinics and clients she works with.   Dr. Kuan can understand Cantonese, but she only speaks English.  Dr. Kuan has one cat named Bee and Willow, the Mexican rescue dog.
